Last week, the ladies of JMI got a very special treat: dinner prepared by Chef Marcus Nilsson! That's right, our very own food photographer cooked us a cover-worthy spread of classic French comfort food like cauliflower soup, vinegar chicken and roasted carrots! It was beyond delicious! Marcus is indeed a trained chef who swapped his knife set for a camera shortly after training with top chef Marcus Samuelson. He may be an acclaimed photographer now, but he's definitely still got his culinary skills. We can't wait for the next dinner party! (Our iPhone photos just don't do the food justice...we'll stick to our day job!)
Argg matey! We came across this series on Wired's Raw File and thought it was so hysterical. Photographer Terry Border creates all different scenes bringing everyday objects to life. The scenes he creates, shoots and post on his blog entitled "Bent Objects" have recieved buzz all over the photography world. Anyone and everyone can relate to these scenes because they can be characterized as: cheeky, playful, meticulous, clever, complex and just plain old cool! Check out a few of them below and to see more head over to his blog.

Happy Friday! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
We are beyond excited to share the images from Ericka McConnell's latest project for Mary Kay Cosmetics. Yesterday we received the catalog in the mail and it looks absolutely beautiful! Take a look below to see the some of the shots Ericka took for them. (more after the jump)

On the off chance you don't know what Mary Kay is, according to a feature on ABC Nightline, "the women of Mary Kay are bringing America back". Mary Kay was started in 1963 to give women the opportunity to "achieve unlimited success" by selling cosmetic products independently. According to their blog, when speaking about the committed women who sell Mary Kay products, "the diversity of their backgrounds, experiences, and personal stories will show you that Mary Kay is about so much more than lipstick!"
We are so glad Ericka got to be a part of this awesome shoot! The pictures came out beautifully! For more information on Mary Kay or to see more of Ericka's Work for them, click here.

Travel + Leisure recently sent Marcus Nilsson to seek out the best places to eat in Marrakesh, Morrocco's capital city. What he found were the vibrant people, places, and dishes of this historic city. Every photo gives a deeper glimpse into the day to day of life in Marrakesh, and we are loving everything we see!
For their special Valentine's Day edition, glo.com is featuring a love-themed image by Ericka McConnell! Check it out for the latest relationship, style, living and beauty news. Or just admire the cover while you finish up that box of dark chocolate truffles...
Leave it to legendary film director Francis Ford Coppola to open the most picturesque 7-suite hotel, Palazzo Margherita, in the small town of Bernalda in Southern Italy. Every detail enhances the magical setting, from the hand painted ceilings to the personality of each suite, named after members of the famed Coppola family who helped with the design. James Merrell photographed the luxury compound for WSJ Magazine, on stands now. See the full story here.
As winter continues to drag on and on, it's easy to crave a little fun in the sun. Mikkel Vang's recent story in Conde Nast Traveler makes it even easier. You can almost feel the sun tanning your winter-white skin! I think it's just about time to plan that Caribbean getaway. Who's with me?
