It seems like Mother Nature and Father Time decided to skip spring and go straight to summer this year. And we're not complaining, especially after seeing Marcus Nilsson's cover story for the June issue of Martha Stewart Living. Nothing kicks off summer like fresh-picked berries! (Or fresh-bought from the local green market for us city-dwellers.) Marcus Nilsson traveled up to Martha Stewart's estate to photograph her beautiful garden full of seasonal fruit, and the treats you can make with them. That chiffon cake with strawberries and cream looks perfect for a Memorial Day BBQ!
The cliche is to serve your mom breakfast in bed for Mother's Day. Breakout from the "norm" and do something really special for Mom! Forget the eggs and bacon and take the recipes from the Bon Appetit Test Kitchen and their adorable "Mother's Day Tea" brunch feature! She will absolutely love these creative and cute springtime recipes shot by Marcus Nilsson.
Happy Mother's Day!
And by "rock" we mean "deliciously rockin' food"! Food & Wine recently comissioned Marcus Nilsson to take a trip to the Motor City to see what it's food scene had to offer. Check out what he found!
We know Detroit is about music and cars, but it might be time to coin another nickname that portrays it's all-American culinary offerings!
In this months travel issue of Bon Appetit Marcus shot a story featuring some of the world's most iconic dishes! The "Seven Wonders of the Food World" story set out to uncover secrets and techniques that give these classics the extra kick that makes them special (and wonderful)! Is it lunch time yet?
Travel + Leisure's Best of Europe issue is on stands now, and features a cover and story by Marcus Nilsson (in addition to two stories by James Merrell!). Marcus' cover shows the Nyhavn Canal in Copenhagen, and the feature story is an insider's guide to making a "foodie pilgrimage" to Copenhagen. This issue is jam-packed with awesome travel tips and, of course, beautiful photos!

Last week, the ladies of JMI got a very special treat: dinner prepared by Chef Marcus Nilsson! That's right, our very own food photographer cooked us a cover-worthy spread of classic French comfort food like cauliflower soup, vinegar chicken and roasted carrots! It was beyond delicious! Marcus is indeed a trained chef who swapped his knife set for a camera shortly after training with top chef Marcus Samuelson. He may be an acclaimed photographer now, but he's definitely still got his culinary skills. We can't wait for the next dinner party! (Our iPhone photos just don't do the food justice...we'll stick to our day job!)
Travel + Leisure recently sent Marcus Nilsson to seek out the best places to eat in Marrakesh, Morrocco's capital city. What he found were the vibrant people, places, and dishes of this historic city. Every photo gives a deeper glimpse into the day to day of life in Marrakesh, and we are loving everything we see!
As winter continues to drag on and on, it's easy to crave a little fun in the sun. Mikkel Vang's recent story in Conde Nast Traveler makes it even easier. You can almost feel the sun tanning your winter-white skin! I think it's just about time to plan that Caribbean getaway. Who's with me?

Winter woes have you wishing for a light snack on the beach? Well, there are a few more months before you can defrost the shrimp cocktail, so why not warm up with these simple, delicious and filling slow-cooker recipes from Real Simple? Marcus Nilsson shot the cover and beautiful story featuring meals you can set and forget....that is until the mouthwatering aroma greets you after a long, snowy day! Winter doesn't seem so bad with creamy chicken and mushroom pot pie in your bowl, does it?

Can you believe it's almost 2012?! The newstands are already full of January issues, bringing on the new year even faster. Marcus Nilsson's first story in the new year packs a punch with bold, citrus-filled dishes. New Year's resolution: try these recipes at home!
